WAV Image of an UM

This is what an “UM” looks like to an editor.

The small hump in the left highlighted box, is a breath.  It is followed by an “Um” in the next box.

I have edited a lot of dialog from videos, since Covid 19.  A typical speaker averages one um, ah, or ya know, for every five seconds of dialog.

“As more people work from home, online meetings are becoming commonplace.  Unfortunately, so are “filler” words that are destroying the English Language.   A typical speaker averages one um, ah, or ya know for every five seconds of dialog!”

This is what 500 “UM’s” looks like to an editor.

This is an example of the number of edits I make for a typical 60-90 minute video of an online corporate meeting.

I recently edited a 2-1/2 hour video that contained 1400 um’s, ah’s, ya know’s, and nervous stutters, where speakers repeat “I,I,I, or and, and, and.”
