Orchestral scoring for film and television.

I am currently piloting a music notation class for Lehigh Carbon Community College, that will teach students the art of orchestral scoring.  I am honored to be the guinea pig for this groundbreaking class, and I am thoroughly enjoying my time creating beautiful orchestral scores, from various periods in music history, to scoring for film, television, and video games.  This course is not only designed for new composers, but for composers who want to tighten up their existing skillset.  There are many composers in the independent film industry, who rely on ear training, without understanding the “why” of what works and what doesn’t work in  musical composition.  Understanding proper chord and melody voicing, will make us all better composers!

Professor Richard Metzger has a doctorate degree in music history.  I studied with Professor Metzger in college, and I am excited to be working

with him again.  His extensive knowledge of music notation, harmony, and technique from classical to Jazz, is what compelled me to participate in

this groundbreaking pilot course.  His “no nonsense” approach to teaching, drives home the importance of rules and theory, while giving students

the flexibility to be creative, and expand their creative toolboxes.
